Bloggy Giveaway #3 The Shack

I'm offering one of the most interesting, yet the most controversial Christian fiction books to come out in a long time. Just take a look around the internet and you can see how much debate there is about this book. I have read it, and personally, it made me think about my faith in an entirely different way, and it made me read the Bible more.

The Shack by William P. Young

Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his "Great Sadness," Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever.

To enter:

1. Comment on this post, if you have read The Shack already, let me know your opinion. If you haven't, why are you interested in reading it?

2. You must leave your e-mail address or I will disqualify your entry.

3. Giveaway will close at midnight on August 1. I will draw the winner on August 2 using http://www.random.org/.

4. If you are the winner, you have 48 hours to contact me or I'll move onto the next person. If you plan to be away, just let me know in your comment.

Mack receives a note from God? Then he acts on it? This alone makes me want to read the book, to see what happens when he follows God's note's instructions. Was it really a note from God? Perhaps I can find out if I win the book. Please enter me in your drawing. I will be watching for the winner on the 2nd of August, but we will be gone for several days after that, back in time for the next weekend, the 9th and after. Thanks so much.

Your review just gave me the shivers. Others I know who have read it LOVED it. I don't know anybody who didn't like it and I know about a half dozen people who have already finished it. The book is making it around my group but it hasn't gotten to me yet. It'd be great to have another one in the mix!

I think that, as Christians, it's okay to question God. (which I guess is what the controversy is?!?!) David questioned God all the time, but was called "a man after God's own heart."

We have just started a book club at my church, and we will be read ing, "The Shack" for Sept.
