Boogers?

I just read a blog post about mis-heard song lyrics, and it made me remember something my oldest used to sing.

You know that old song, "Do your ears hang low?" Well, there's one line that says:

"Can you throw 'em over your shoulder like a continental soldier?"

Remember that?

My daughter used to sing (at the top of her lungs mind you):

"Can you throw 'em over your shoulder like a cotton bag of boogers?"

It took me MONTHS to convince her that those were not the correct lyrics.

Personally, I always had problems with the Heart song "Alone"--

Till now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone

For some reason, I could never get that line and heard "I never really cared to delight you"

Not that it makes any sense, but that's what I heard, in fact, until I heard someone sing it on American Idol a couple of years ago.

Anyone else have this issue?

Yup. I have that problem frequently -- oddly, I get the lines most people miss.

That is hilarious! Liam does the same thing with lyrics and will not believe that it is actually something else ha ha.

Oh, me too. The one I got really wrong, was Don't Speak, by No Doubt....I thought she sang, Don't Speed!

I can't think of any song that I did that with but my sister did it with a Randy Travis tune. The lyrics are "floundering around like a fish at sea" or something like that anyway and she always used to sing "floundering around like a chimpanzee" we still laugh when we hear that song.
